Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss and the Irvington Township Council treated more than 250 Irvington seniors to Casino Night at the Irvington Senior Center on April 15th. The attendees enjoyed dinner, professional casino tables and games, Atlantic City dealer, and a live band with vocalists. The seniors also received gifts such as flat screen televisions, gift cards, toasters, and a wide range of more than 100 items.   All of the expenses were paid for by the Mayor, members of Township Council, and members of the Township Administration, from their personal funds. Taxpayer money was used for the event.

“The seniors had a real ball,” said Mayor Vauss. “I use to do this for them before I even ran for office. I am glad to continue this event now that I am Mayor. It is one way to show them that I am still committed to their well-being and happiness. This casino night was bigger and better than ever. Truth be told, some of the ladies danced me to exhaustion!” The Mayor promised the seniors that this will be an annual event.

“I was amazed at all of the wonderful activity the seniors enjoyed,” said Dr. Stephanie Bush-Baskette, who as director of the Health Department oversees Senior Services for the Township. “I congratulate the Mayor and Town Council for their commitment to Irvington seniors. They are ‘hands on’ in caring for them. I also want to thank all of the volunteers who helped make the event a tremendous success.”
