Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss Announces A Public Visioning Meeting To Develop a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for the Township

Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss announced that a facilitated community meeting will take place on Saturday October 18, 2014. Residents, businesses, and local elected officials are invited to give comments on a township-wide Economic Development Strategy and a Transit Village designation for Irvington Center. The meeting will be held in the Municipal Council Chambers starting at 9:00 am. Breakfast will be served.

“My administration is planning to stimulate economic growth by investing in upgrading our sewer lines and reconstructing roads,” said Mayor Vauss. “These designations will enable the Township to receive federal and state infrastructure funds to expand our capacity to absorb new land development. Some of our infrastructure is old and obsolete; we have too many sewer line failures for us to absorb new growth.”

Wayne Bradley, Director of Community Development and Planning, noted, “We want public input to assist us in developing the best strategy for investing in the Township. It is time to reverse the disinvestment in our systems. It takes planning and forethought to put funds where the need is greatest. ”
