Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss is pleased to announce that Irvington’s Neighborhood Improvement Corporation (INIC) received more than $282,000 in grants to address homelessness and to provide emergency assistance to Irvington residents in need.
“When I became Mayor, the Township was on the verge of losing this funding,” said Mayor Vauss. “I am pleased to say, that through the efforts of INIC Executive Director Deborah Simpkins, we were able to secure the funding.”
INIC Executive Director Simpkins advised, “The $110,000 received from the County of Essex will enable us to provide services to people who are homeless in Irvington. The more than $172,000 in CSBG funds will be used to provide emergency assistance in the form of rental assistance and emergency relocation; utility assistance; and, food pantry referrals.”
