Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss Presents Awards to the Top Winners of the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign Shaping NJ Workplace Walk-Off Challenge 2014

2015_workplace_walkoff_challengeIrvington Mayor Tony Vauss presented Tanya R. Walker, Gloria Chison, and Jahnay Ingram, with plaques for winning the Workplace Walk Off Challenge of 2014. They won by accruing the highest number of steps of all township employees who entered the competition and wore pedometers.

“I am pleased to make these awards to three of our Township’s employees,” said Mayor Vauss. “This is one way we are working to make Irvington healthier – by exercising through our normal activities.”

“I have to share this award with the Mayor,” said Tanya Walker, first place winner with 468,177 steps. “It is because he makes us work so hard and run so many places, that I accrued the steps!”

Gloria Chison recorded 317,535 steps. She indicated that most of them came from “doing things with our seniors at the Irvington Senior Center, who are extremely busy and active.”

The 2015 Challenge will begin in October. The Mayor has agreed to participate and is determined to walk the most steps.

This project is funded by the New Jersey Department of Health.
