2015_SOT_Address

Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss presented his first State of the Township Address on January 29, 2015, before a packed auditorium at the Christian Pentecostal Church. The Mayor discussed the taxes for 2015, what his administration has accomplished since he took office on July 1, 2014, and development in the Township. Performances were given by students from Florence Avenue School, Chancellor Avenue School, and Augusta Pre-School. Dancers from the Dance Theater and Educational Center of the Township of Irvington also entertained the audience.

“I am pleased to announce that there will be no tax increase for the residents of Irvington in 2015,” said Mayor Vauss. “I am also excited to report that we have development underway in our town, including at the site of the former Irvington Hospital. Irvington is growing in a positive way. We are doing this together – the Administration, Town Council, the residents, businesses owners, and people who want to be a part of our positive growth. We are investing in the safety, cleanliness, and health of our town. This is just the beginning.”

The Mayor and Council presented proclamations to the Fire and Police Departments for their valor and sacrifices to keep Irvington safe. The Mayor made a personal contribution to the Reading by Feeding Program. A special tribute, including a video and presentation, was presented about the late Councilman/Freeholder Bilal Beasley.

The Address can be viewed on channel 34 on Comcast and channel 35 on FIOS/Verizon.
