Irvington’s Mayor Reports Major Bust of Three Gang Members

Irvington’s Mayor Tony Vauss and Public Safety Director Tracy Bowers announced a major bust of three gang members. The arrests followed an investigation which resulted in the execution of search warrants at 19 Grace Street, 1st floor, Irvington, and 99 No. 7th Street, first floor, Newark. A search was also conducted of a vehicle. The searches resulted in the discovery of: 114 glassine envelops of heroin; 46 vials of crack cocaine; $467.00 in US currency; and, a Glock 19 9mm weapon. The arrestees were charged with weapon offenses and possession and distribution of narcotics. It was determined that all three are members of the Bloods “793” street gang.

“I commend and thank our law enforcement for their success in this investigation and arrests,” said Mayor Vauss. “Public Safety Director Tracy Bowers is doing a great job leading our initiatives to make Irvington safer.”

The three were arrested by an Irvington detective along with the Essex County Sheriff’s Bureau of Narcotics. This was a joint investigation with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Special Task Force Detectives, and Detectives of the Irvington Police Threat Assessment Criminal Investigation Team (TACIT).
