Irvington’s Mayor Reports Successful Crime Fighting Efforts

Irvington’s Mayor Tony Vauss and Public Safety Director Tracy Bowers announced that Irvington is experiencing very good success in making the township the place criminals do not want to come.

“As of April 12, 2016, there have been no homicides in Irvington. This zero murder rate was last seen more than 30 years ago in 1985,” said Mayor Tony Vauss.

The Irvington Police Department has been making it clear to anyone who thinks that Irvington is a place they can do crime or even violate the traffic laws, that they are greatly mistaken, Since January 1, 2016, the IPD has issued 16,069 summons to traffic and parking violators. In addition to making Irvington a safer place for other drivers and pedestrians, the Township has been able to recoup $778,082.00 in revenue.

When asked what he thinks has led to the reduction in crime in Irvington, Irvington’s Public Safety Director Tracy Bowers stated, “I attribute this success to fine police work and support from the Mayor and his Administration.”

Making Irvington cleaner and safer have been the primary goals of Vauss’s administration for his first two years in office.
